Mandi Schwartz Memorial Tournament:
Largest Female Midget AAA Hockey Tournament in Western Canada is Set To Kick-Off.
Wilcox, SK December 6, 2017 The Mandi Schwartz Memorial Tournament is set to take place this weekend in Wilcox. This prestigious female hockey tournament held annually will see 16 of the best Female Midget AAA and Jr. Women teams from Western Canada face-off. The tournament, hosted by the Notre Dame Hounds will be played December 7 10, in the communities of Wilcox and Milestone. A total of 40 games are played over the 4 days, culminating with the championship game at the Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox at 3:30PM on Sunday December 10, 2017.

The Mandi Schwartz Tournament is one of the most highly scouted female tournaments in Western Canada, on average seeing close to 40 NCAA, USport and ACAC coaches attending. There is no gate admission charge, allowing everyone to enjoy the tournament.
Since having this tournament named after Mandi Schwartz, who was a big inspiration to female hockey players across North America, the tournament has become a big honor for players & teams to participate in, and the level of competition is stronger than any tournament held in Western Canada,” said Tegan Schroeder, Female Hockey Coordinator at Notre Dame.

A ceremonial puck drop will take place on Thursday December 7, 2017 at 8:30PM when the Notre Dame Hounds take on Lloydminster, at the Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox. Rick and Carol Schwartz will be in attendance to drop the puck and welcome the teams to the tournament.

Mandi Schwartz attended and played her high school hockey at Notre Dame with the Hounds and graduated in 2006. Mandi then went on to play in the NCAA for the Yale Bulldogs at Yale University. In December of 2008, Mandi was diagnosed with cancer (acute myeloid leukemia). Mandi received treatment and returned to Yale for the spring semester; however, in April of 2010 Mandi learned that the cancer had returned. Mandi then received a stem cell transplant in September 2010, but later in December learned that the cancer had returned. Mandi passed away on April 3, 2011 at the age of 23.
