2021 Project Blue: Ocean of Inclusion Entry Rules
AltaSea hopes to inspire the next generation by introducing a contest celebrating both Juneteenth and
World Ocean Day. All students 18 and younger are asked to create art to the theme, Ocean of Inclusion. Acceptable art submissions may include but are not limited to drawing, painting, sketching, dance, song, poetry, creative writing, blogging, videography, and sculpture.
Art entries should be emailed as a pdf, jpeg or photographed and emailed to Robin Aube [email protected] no later than Wednesday, June 30th at 5:00 pm.
Juneteenth400 Celebration
June 19th from 1:00 pm to 8:45 pm
Join in virtually for a day of tributes, education, and entertainment culminating with fireworks over the water!

Winners of AltaSea’s art contest will receive:
- 1st Place Winner $100 and to be honored at The Blue Hour: Ocean of Inclusion event on October 9th
- 2nd Place Winner $50
- 3rd Place Winner $50
RULES, THEMES, AND DEADLINES
Entries should be created with the theme Ocean of Inclusion in mind. All written work (blogs, creative writing, and poems) must be less than 500 words and videos less than 5 minutes. Video contestants may email a youtube link to [email protected]
2020 Project Blue Entry Rules
Students,
The Project Blue@Weekends contest has run for the last 10 weeks and we hope you have enjoyed creating ways the ocean sustains us all. On behalf of AltaSea and our distinguished judging panel, we want you to know how much we have truly enjoyed your artwork, creative writing submissions, videos, songs, logos, poetry, and blogs. Your submissions will remain on our Project Blue website. On June 1st AltaSea will announce Project Blue@Summer, a whole new campaign of activities we hope you will participate in.
The final Project Blue@Weekends contest theme is, “How Can You Save the Ocean?” All submissions are due Monday, June 1st at 11:59 pm.
Project Blue at AltaSea invites students to amplify their voices for L.A.’s Blue Economy, where supporting our ocean can also be a career…and it could save the world! As the world has become uneasy with the Covid-19 virus, we wish to give students the opportunity to provide leadership at a time when leadership is needed the most. Our goal is to give students a voice for the future of our planet!
Project Blue allows all students — kindergarten thru university – a chance to express their creativity around various themes.

WRITTEN WORD (Poetry, Fictional Narrative, Non-Fiction Blogs)
VIDEO (Short film, Vlog, etc.)
LOGO (Design a logo for Project Blue)
MUSIC (Songs, Scores, Dance)
This weeks theme: “How Can You Save the Ocean?” Your voice, your choice, pick any of the creative categories and create a piece that reflects the theme.
Entry Deadlines: Every Monday night at 11:59 pm *** Please include your grade level and your school name with your submission. *** More info on each category below.
Weekly Prizes
1st Place: $50 gift card to either Amazon or Target online.
2nd to 6th Place: Each receive a $25 gift card to either Amazon or Target online.
All 7 winners: A letter of congratulations from AltaSea for your college application or professional resume.

CATEGORY INFORMATION:
ART (Drawings, Paintings, Superhero Designs, etc.)
What: Please draw, color, paint artwork or design a character that shows the weekly theme.
How to enter: Scan and send to [email protected]
WRITTEN WORD (Poetry, Fictional Narrative, Non-Fiction Blogs)
What: Please create a poem, write a story or a blog that describes the weekly theme no longer than 3,000 words.

VIDEO CONTEST (Short film, Vlog, etc.)
What: Create video(s) around the weekly theme. (Must be less than 5 minutes)

LOGO DESIGN (Design a logo for Project Blue)
What: Design a logo that AltaSea can use as the official Project Blue campaign logo. Original work only, no copyrighted images will be accepted.

What: Compose and record a song or choreograph and video a dance routine.
