More than 600 people gathered last week to mark 50 years of the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center’s nonprofit work. The event raised more than $1 million and drew a bevy of boldface names — including journalist Jeff Yang, “Fresh Off the Boat” actor Hudson Yang, and Katherine Ho, from “Crazy Rich Asians” and “The Voice” — who helped celebrate the milestone. Joy Lim Nakrin, an anchor for NBC10 Boston, presented during the gala, which was held at the InterContinental Hotel.
“Since 1969, we have empowered Asians and new immigrants to build healthy families, achieve greater economic success, and contribute to thriving communities,” BCNC executive director Giles Li said in a statement ahead of the event. “I am so proud of what we have accomplished, and I am looking forward to writing this new chapter of BCNC’s history together.”
