Week 02 (March 29-April 4)

As we feel burdened and at-risk and vulnerable with what we are facing with the virus, let us together remember those seeking a place of safety to raise their children. Spend time with the ninth station and the image of the refugee camp of asylum seekers in Matamoros, Mexico. Imagine what it will be like when the virus hits this camp. Self-isolating and physical distancing are impossible.

Ninth Station – Jesus Falls a Third time
Jesus, your journey has been long. You fall again, beneath your cross. You feel broken, and You know your journey is coming to an end. You struggle and struggle. Yet you get up and keep going.

The Refugee Camp
Jesus, these migrants’ journey has been so long. Some have walked 2,500 miles, taking over four months to try to get to this land of safety. They seem broken. What must it be like to have to live in a camp so close together, depending on the goodness of others for food and necessities, waiting for an attorney and an asylum trial, praying for someone to hear and understand. These people seem to struggle and struggle, and yet they smile and share their stories and continue to live.

Response: Lord, Help us make a difference in our world
