EagleFest 2024

The SJR Parents' Association (SJRPA) invites you to EagleFest - the annual SJRPA carnival and BBQ. EagleFest 2024 will take place at the School from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Please come along and join the family-friendly fun! EagleFest will be a colour day (casual dress).

Wristband pre-sales close at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024. Wristbands may be purchased at the door at EagleFest and charged to your school account. Thank you and see you there!

When registering below and filling out the order form, please fill in the first and last name of the individual who will be wearing the wristband.

  • IMPORTANT My child is in Junior School and Grade 6, what do I need to do?

    Wednesday, May 22, 2024 will be an early dismissal commencing at 2:15 p.m. for any K-8 students who are NOT attending EagleFest and ALL Senior School students. The bus routes will operate as normal. There will be no buses at 3:45 p.m. that day.
     
    EagleFest takes place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
     
    Junior School 
    Junior School students will have supervised non-instructional activities until 3:45 p.m.
     
    Parents in Junior School must inform the School Office if their child is NOT attending EagleFest. In this instance, the child may take the 2:15 p.m. bus home or be collected in carline at 2:35 p.m.
     
    All Junior School students attending EagleFest must be picked up from their classrooms between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. and accompanied at the event by a parent. The name of the parent or designated adult who will pick up your child must be provided at time of registration on www.sjr.mb.ca/eaglefest. Fields to enter this information are provided. The registration cannot be completed without this information. 
     
    Extended Day after 4:00 p.m. is available only to families who elected into this service in lieu of bussing as part of enrolment and not attending EagleFest.

    Middle School - Grade 6
    Grade 6 students will have supervised non-instructional activities until 3:45 p.m.
     
    Parents of Grade 6 students must inform the School Office if their child is NOT attending EagleFest. In this instance, the child may take the 2:15 p.m. bus home or be collected in carline at 2:35 p.m.
     
    All Grade 6 students attending EagleFest must be picked up from their classrooms between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. and accompanied at the event by a parent. Grade 6 parents may go to the Middle School Office to locate their child’s classroom. The name of the parent or designated adult who will pick up your child must be provided at time of registration on www.sjr.mb.ca/eaglefest. Fields to enter this information are provided. The registration cannot be completed without this information. 
  • End of day for students in Grade 7 to Grade 12

    Middle School - Grade 7 and 8
    Grade 7 and 8 students NOT attending EagleFest will depart campus at the 2:15 p.m. early dismissal time.  If your child IS attending EagleFest, they may stay on campus and they will have supervised non-instructional activities until 3:45 p.m. Please contact the Middle School Office if your child is in Grade 7 or Grade 8 and IS attending EagleFest.
     
    Senior School (Grade 9-12)
    There will be many opportunities available for Senior School students to help with the event and we invite Senior School students to volunteer at EagleFest. Student volunteer opportunities will be coordinated through the Parents' Association.
     
    Students in Grades 9 to 12 attending EagleFest and not volunteering at the event may stay on campus and will have supervised non-instructional activities until 3:45 p.m.
     
    Please contact the Senior School Office if they are attending EagleFest.
     
    Students in Grades 9 to 12 NOT attending EagleFest will depart campus at the 2:15 p.m. early dismissal time.
  • Where do we park?

    There is no parking on campus for this event. Please park legally and with consideration for our Wildwood neighbours. See information under free shuttle bus service. Thank you. 
  • How do I use the free bus shuttle service to and from my vehicle and the school?

    The 'EagleFest Express' will circle North Drive, Oakenwald Ave, Point Road, and South Drive from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to transport families from their vehicles to School and back again. Look out for the bus stop at School - it's marked by the inflatable waving tube man!

    The 'EagleFest Express' (Beaver Bus) will make numerous stops along its route to pick up families as needed prior to the event. When you are ready to leave, please congregate at the inflatable waving tube man to get a ride back to your car. 
     
  • What is the cost of admission?

    Wristbands must be worn by children and adults throughout the event.  Admission to the BBQ dinner and participation in the games and activities is by wristband only. 

    Wristbands should be purchased online by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024:
    1. All-inclusive wristbands (for children only), include all games, activities, treats and BBQ meal - $35
    2. Meal-only wristbands (for adults and children) - $25
    3. Free for children 3 and under. Registration not required. 
    Wristbands will also be available at the door (All-inclusive wristbands - $38 and Meal-only wristbands - $28) and may be charged to your school accounts.  We do not accept cash.
  • Event cancellation, refunds, and end of day.

    If EagleFest is cancelled, the event will not be rescheduled for the current school year. 

    End of day busing, extended day, and pick-up will resume as if a normal school day.

    If it rains on the day of EagleFest, the event will continue and be held indoors of the School in specifically assigned areas.

    All charges to School Accounts will be posted on the June 2024 billing cycle. If the event is cancelled, no charges will appear on your account. 
  • What kind of games and activities will there be?

    • Party Works' bouncers: Giant Inflatable Slide, Mega Mountain Obstacle Course, Human Foosball, Extreme Challenge, Lazer Maze and Gladiator Joust just to name a few!
    • Outdoor Games and activities for all ages.
    • Face Painting and Doodle Zone
    • A visit from two well-known (animated) celebrities
    • Karaoke
     
  • What other fun stuff is happening?

    Get ready for some circus fun! Sarah Teakle’s show includes masterful hula hooping, juggling, fun audience participation and a daring finale! After the show, the fun continues with a circus workshop where everyone is welcome to come join Sarah in learning how to hula hoop and juggle. 
     
    There will also be face painting, a visit from two well-known (animated) celebrities, the famous EagleFest Basket Raffle, karaoke, and more!  

    Eddie the Eagle, our beloved SJR mascot, will be there to meet and greet families. 
  • How do we collect our wristbands?

    Pre-ordered wristbands for Junior School students will be distributed and placed on students' wrists before 3:15 p.m. on the event day.
     
    Pre-ordered additional wristbands for Junior School family members and friends will be placed in an envelope and given to the oldest Junior School child to keep safe and hand to the parent collecting them from their classroom.  We would like to ask that the oldest Junior School student in each family wear an article of clothing with pockets so that they can keep the envelope safe. Thank you.
     
    All Middle School and Senior School students, even those with siblings in Junior School, will pick up their pre-ordered wristbands during their respective lunch hours from the registration table outside Hamber Dining Hall.  They may also purchase wristbands for the 'at the door' cost and charge them to their family’s school account.
     
    Pre-ordered wristbands for Middle School and Senior School family members and friends will be available for pick up after 3:00 p.m. at the registration table in John Schaffter Hall (just inside the main entrance to the School).  Wristbands may also be purchased ‘at the door’ and charged to your school account.
     
    New families joining the School in September 2024 should collect their pre-ordered wristbands from the registration table in John Schaffter Hall (just inside the main entrance to the School) from 3:00 p.m. onwards.  
  • What kind of food can we enjoy?

    No need to feed the kids before you arrive - included in the cost of all wristbands is our wonderful EagleFest BBQ! We will be featuring a fantastic selection of summer specials to include: juicy hamburgers, traditional hot dogs, tasty smokies, grilled chicken breasts and a vegetarian selection of grilled items, plus all the toppings and garnishes - too many to mention!

    We will also be serving cold salads, fresh fruit, ice cream sundaes, and a wonderful assortment of refreshing beverages. All these great items will be available in Hamber Dining Hall from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. so bring a healthy appetite!  
     
    Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options will be available. All disposable tableware used during EagleFest is biodegradable. 
     
  • Will there be a basket raffle?

    Yes! Raffle tickets for the ever popular EagleFest Basket Raffle can only be purchased at the event.  Tickets are sold by sheet for $25 per sheet. This can be charged to your school account.

    Raffle tickets will be sold from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The draw will take place at 7:05 p.m. You do not have to be present to win - absent winners will be notified by phone. 

    All proceeds from the SJRPA EagleFest basket raffle will go towards upgrading dining hall equipment.
  • How do I volunteer at EagleFest?

    Many volunteers are needed to ensure that EagleFest is a huge success.
     
    EagleFest offers a wide range of fun activities for the whole family and the SJRPA is in need of many volunteers to ensure that this event runs smoothly. Volunteers are needed from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you are available to help for an hour or more, we would love to have you on the team!
     
    Parents must be an approved volunteer to sign up to assist at EagleFest. Please confirm the status of your background checks by contacting Michelle Woods, SJR's Human Resource Coordinator, at 204.477.2490 or mwoods@sjr.mb.ca.
