RNCM Strings Day

RNCM Strings Day celebrates the sheer versatility, beauty, and brilliance of string playing across a range of concerts and programmes. Our students, staff, and guest artists perform side-by-side, captivating listeners with their expressive playing and embodying learning at its highest level.

The festivities begin with our cross-year group ensemble led by Professor in Violin Pavel Fischer, an internationally renowned tutor and chamber musician. Full of character and expressive intensity, they open with Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D as students pass the solos between one another before a spellbinding performance of Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings in E major Op 22.

Our Young Strings then showcase their learning and playing followed by a performance from our first-year students. Working closely as an ensemble across their early studies, they unveil a gripping programme – with works spanning from Mozart to Freddie Mercury.

Rounding off the day, we welcome members from the award-winning Manchester Collective to play side-by-side with our students. Together, they unleash a musical odyssey of string classics and intriguing works beginning with Vivaldi’s fiery Concerto for Strings in G minor and concluding with a depiction of the forces of nature in Wojciech Kilar’s Orawa

Musical collaborations abound, we can’t wait to welcome you to share in this music experience celebrating all things strings.
