Our Community Toolkit can help you quickly reference and share Legal Aid’s resources.  Feel free to copy and paste any text and/or images for sharing on social media!

How to Contact Legal Aid

At this time, Legal Aid is not currently open for in-person intake at any of our office locations, including our downtown Cleveland office. To apply for assistance, applicants can call Legal Aid or utilize Legal Aid’s secure online intake platform.

    • Phone intake:
      • 888-817-3777 (English only)
      • For phone lines in other languages, including Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin, visit lasclev.org/contact.
      • If you have a communication limitation, dial 711 from any phone in Ohio to contact Legal Aid through the Ohio Relay Service.
    • Online intake:
      • Visit lasclev.org/contact.
      • Secure and available 24/7.
      • The form takes 10-20 minutes to complete.
      • All applicants receive a call from a Legal Aid representative within 2 business days.
    • Brief Advice Clinics:
      • In-person help is available through our neighborhood Brief Advice Clinics!
      • Visit lasclev.org/events for upcoming clinic locations and times.
      • All events are free - Legal Aid never charges for services.

Help with Evictions and Paying Rent

Renters who are struggling during COVID-19 are not alone. Many may qualify for free eviction help and/or rent assistance.

Cleveland households with children that meet federal poverty guidelines are eligible for “Right to Counsel – Cleveland,” a new law that provides free legal help in eviction cases. Call 216-861-5835 for assistance, or visit FreeEvicitonHelp.org.

If you don’t qualify for this program, you may still qualify for rent assistance and other resources. Visit FreeEvictionHelp.org to learn more.

Help with Rental Housing Issues

The Tenant Information Line is Legal Aid’s 24/7 help line for renters with questions about rights, responsibilities, and Ohio housing law.

Tenants can call and leave a message at any time. Callers will be prompted to leave a message and will receive a return phone call within 1-2 business days, between 9 AM and 5 PM. Callers should clearly state their name, phone number and a brief description of the housing question. Some tenants may be referred to other organizations for additional help, while those who need legal assistance may be referred to Legal Aid’s intake.

Help with Employment Issues - Including Unemployment Benefits

The Worker Information Line is Legal Aid’s 24/7 help line for workers with questions about Ohio’s employment laws and unemployment benefits.

Workers can call and leave a message at any time. Callers will be prompted to leave a message and will receive a return phone call within 1-2 business days, between 9 AM and 5 PM.  Callers should clearly state their name, phone number and a brief description of their housing question. Some may be referred to other organizations for additional help, while those who need legal assistance may be referred to Legal Aid’s intake.
