Update on Phase 3 of CMH Redevelopment

This is an important next step of the CMH journey and we wanted you to hear it from us! Plans continue towards the complete redevelopment of our hospital. This October, CMH is positioned to enter the renovation phase, or third phase of our construction. These continued updates of capital and equipment are only possible due to the tremendous support of our community. While the project agreement is still being finalized, we are able to share that Ellis Don Construction will be the contractor to finish the project. Ellis Don is an established, well-resourced company who has successfully completed major hospital and civic projects across Canada. You will notice their equipment arriving on site over the coming weeks.

This part of our project involves the complete refurbishment of Wing B, including patient care areas that will mirror the beautiful ones in Wing A, a larger Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging Department equipped with the latest technology, a new Rehabilitation Department, and many other facility enhancements. Preparation for this phase has already begun with the planned relocation of several clinics and departments later this fall. Eventually, all Wing B inpatient care units will move to Wing C, and will remain there until construction is complete. Construction is expected to last 48 months. As this work will occur within a working patient care facility it can be disruptive, and all of us at CMH will be doing our best to keep disruption to a minimum and keep our community informed.

Thank you for all you’ve done to assist CMH in reaching this next mile marker in our journey, to be here with the best tools and equipment, when you need us most.
